THE PROBLEM

A gear can launch well and still lose speed down the straight.

Traditional gear charts explain rollout, but they don't show how a specific rider performs on a specific track. BMX Gear Validator measures the difference.

HOW IT WORKS

Three steps to a measured answer.

1
Connect sensors
Pair Bluetooth speed and cadence sensors.
2
Record clean runs
Test each gear with the same rider, bike, load, and track conditions.
3
Compare performance
Review launch acceleration, cadence, peak speed, time to peak RPM, and consistency.
THE METHOD

Three clean runs per gear.

A fair comparison means holding everything constant except the gear. The app records setup details and helps keep conditions consistent across every run, so the numbers actually mean something.

Recommendations are based on measured practice data and should be validated by the rider and coach.

TRANSPARENT SCORING

Nothing hidden. Every metric is shown.

The app separates launch performance from straight-line performance, and flags incomplete or inconsistent runs instead of quietly scoring them.

SUMMARY
Gear A is stronger on the straight. Gear B launches faster. More consistent runs are recommended before making a final change.
FOR COACHES

Give your gear decisions better evidence.

Review what happened on the track, per run, with the data-quality caveats visible — then decide with the rider.

SENSOR COMPATIBILITY

Works with compatible Bluetooth speed & cadence sensors.

Compatible Bluetooth sensors provide live speed and cadence. For full gate-acceleration analysis, mount the phone securely. For speed/cadence-only checks, the phone can stay nearby.

Speed sensor
Mounts on the wheel or hub.
Cadence sensor
Mounts on the crank.
Phone
Records, analyzes, and displays results. Its accelerometer powers gate acceleration and full performance analysis — mount it securely for that.
